Beyond Blue: Introducing More Color into Cyanotypes with Vicki Donkersley

Instructor Bio

Vicki Donkersley had a three-decade career in the arts, including 24 years as Curator of Exhibitions at Tohono Chul, one of Tucson's cherished desert gems. She and her husband lived for 35 years at Catalina State Park, where her love of the natural world deepened. These experiences shaped her art, focusing on collage and cyanotype techniques inspired by nature. Vicki holds a BFA and MA from the University of North Texas and continues to share her expertise and passion through teaching.

Class Description

Ready to add more color and creativity to your cyanotype practice? This workshop will teach participants how to:

  • Create beautiful Prussian-blue images with basic cyanotype exposures.

  • Experiment with wet cyanotypes to explore textures and depth.

  • Add new dimensions with double exposures.

  • Incorporate color dyes, bleaching, and toning techniques for vibrant results.

Using a variety of papers and fabrics provided in class, you’ll create a collection of unique samples and one-of-a-kind images. Participants will leave with new skills, inspiration, and a list of resources to continue exploring cyanotypes at home.
