Creative Meetups
Are you a new PaperWorks member, or an existing member? Are you an artist or emerging artist? Do you want to explore new techniques, meet other PaperWorks members and have fun? Creative Meet-ups were designed for you!
Creative Meetups are free, collaborative learning groups. Members can expand their artistic skills in supportive, challenging, and fun environments. There is no "blueprint" for a meetup and all it takes is 2 or more interested members to meetup! In general, meetups run from September to May. Groups meet in members’ homes, in public places, or after the monthly PaperWorks meeting. New Creative Meetups are formed based on the interests of members. Members can join more than one group. If you are interested in a specific or general topic, let the Meetup coordinator know or make an announcement at a PaperWorks meeting.
Some Creative Meetups are limited due to the space available in the meeting rooms. If a Creative Meetup is full, talk to Diane Cheshire or Linda Wojtowicz about starting another similar meetup.

While the co-leaders may offer prompts for inspiration, or brief tutorials, they won’t conduct formal “teaching” sessions. They do welcome any member to share their expertise or demo a technique.

Join us for a special Creative Meetup designed to help artists write or refine their personal artist statements. Together, we’ll explore how to craft statements that address:
Your overall artistic practice.
Specific works of art.
A cohesive body of work.
We'll also delve into the difference between an artist statement and an artist bio, clarifying their unique purposes.
An artist statement isn’t just for exhibitions or critics—it’s a vital tool for understanding your creative process, articulating your ideas, and connecting others to your art on a deeper level.
Important Note:
Participants must have their own hard copy (no Kindles or sharing) of Art-Write: The Writing Guide for Visual Artists by Vicki Krohn Amorose. This book will be used as our workbook for live writing exercises and individual work between sessions. It’s available on Amazon for approximately $8. This requirement is non-negotiable.
Sketch onsite, in your home, share ideas and projects.
Open to those interested in improving their sketching skills, developing a regular sketchbook practice, or making art and travel journals.
This group generally meets twice a month, once on Zoom, where we often have a fun sketching exercise, and once in person which is frequently followed by a group lunch.
Dates vary based on the participant's availability.
If you’d like meeting notices, send an email request to: Lita Doesken.
