Janny Taylor
Artist Bio / Artist Statement: Journey with me through the realms of self-discovery—I am Janny Taylor, and my chosen medium is the art of collage. Within this creative space, I delve into the nuanced interplay of imagination and reality. I thrive on the challenges of pushing artistic boundaries, constantly searching for novel ways to convey the ineffable. As I navigate this process, I extend an invitation to audiences to join me in exploring the indomitable spirit and untold stories of humanity.
My work has been featured in numerous galleries as well as museums, including MoMA (Museum of Modern Art), and the National Catholic Museum (NYC), and in a variety of publications including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, O-the Oprah Magazine. I am the author and illustrator of the best-selling and critically acclaimed book, “Our Lady of Weight Loss: Miraculous and Motivational Musings from the Patron Saint of Permanent Fat Removal." In addition, I am a co-founder of the Harlem Open Artists Studio Tour, Harlem, NYC; a co-founder of the Arizona Collage Collective. I studied at The Art Students League with the feminist artist, Anita Steckel, and at Parsons School of Design both in NYC. I have been living and loving in our beloved desert since 2010.
