Artist’s Statement
My art explores the existential threat to grace and beauty under a patriarchal, profit-driven system that devalues nature and female energies. I begin with photography, which offers true and exquisite detail. Then I look beyond the objective truth of any one photograph. My original photographs become the colors of my palette. My finished images include elements from five to ten original photographs, which I have cropped, tinted, merged, and otherwise digitally distorted to portray the tension between beauty and the selfishness that puts it at risk.

My work was included in the Tucson Museum of Art 2020 Biennial. It has been shown around the state as part of the Arizona ACLU’s In This Together traveling exhibition (2018-2019), as well as at the Herberger Theater Center galleries, Phoenix Airport Museum, and Raices Taller 222 Gallery in Tucson.
