I have been painting since 2000 and have gained valuable knowledge through workshops,
classes, books, videos, experimentation, and practice. I begin planning a painting by drawing a
loose sketch enjoying the spontaneity of line. I make a small value sketch and transfer the line
drawing to paper. Generally, I choose a limited palette of three to five colors. When painting on
Yupo, I always start with pouring paint and creating texture. Once that dries, I look for a theme,
wipe out sections, pour more paint, and add details. Experimentation is what makes painting
fun and I play with new color combinations, textures, or techniques to keep it fresh and expand
my skills. Collage experimentation is my latest new technique. As a result, my art is continually
evolving.
