Artist Bio
Gretchen Bierbaum, B.A., M.A., Kent State University, is the founder and President of the non-profit National Collage Society, (NCS, Inc), an art foundation with 15 regional groups and artists in 6 different countries. NCS is dedicated to teaching the public about collage through lectures, exhibits and publications.
Gretchen teaches collage workshops nationally and specializes in image transfer. She is the author of “Collage in All Dimensions,” a book about the history of collage as the only new fine art medium of the 20th Century. Her second book with the same title, has a subtitle “Techniques to Alter and Transfer Images.” She has edited 30 catalogs for each annual juried collage exhibit since 1984. As an artist, she has collages in the permanent collection of three museums, many private collections in the USA and three other countries.
