Gene Riggs, M.A. Art Education, is a retired art, humanities, and writing teacher of children and adults. Gene formerly taught in eight Tucson elementary schools as well as for Pima Community College, Prescott College, the Tucson Art Institute and the Tucson Museum of Art.
“I’ve taught and produced works from almost every visual art discipline, but since I retired in 2003 I have been concentrating on paper and paint collages and handmade books, usually writing text or poetry to accompany either original drawings or photographs.”
Gene lives in the desert outside of Tucson where she spends most days gardening, cooking, reading, writing, and making art. Her books and framed paper collages can be found in numerous private collections. As a member of Tucson based Paperworks, she shows in Paperworks-sponsored exhibitions, and has one or two open studios per year.
